Huawei Honor 6 vs Xiaomi Mi4

The battle of smartphones is getting hotter every passing day and the war seems to get better every time a device is launched. The specs , the pricing, the availability and more importantly the manufacturer. I now write about two new phones from 2 chinese giants - Xiaomi and Huawei. The Huawei honor 6 vs Xiaomi Mi4.

Huawei Honor 6:

The latest offering from Huawei - The HONOR 6.
Honor 6 is a 5 inch device that is expected launched on 29th September 2014. The device has a Full HD IPS Panel with 1920x1080 resolution and a pixel density of 445ppi.

To start off about the device, the device runs on Android v4.4.2 Kitkat with HUAWEI Emotion UI 2.3 which is the latest in the Emotion UI Series. Has touch sensitive buttons on the front, power key and the volume rocker on the right.

The device sports a 13MP clicker on the rear with flash which can be used to shoot Full HD videos at 30FPS. The front snapper is a 5MP one and is place along side the sensors to the right side of the earpiece.

The phone comes equiped with 2 micro sim slots (YES! A dual sim phone!). But the Indian variant comes with a single sim one (Sad!) The phone sports a micro sd card slot(upto 64GB) as well for all those who need that extra storage space. Though the device comes with 16/32GB storage options, the micro sd card will be a plus as many phones in the category don't have it. The phone runs on an OCTA CORE HiSilicon Kirin 920, a processor from the Huawei's own farm and is yet to show its power to the world along with Mali-450MP4 GPU . The phone has 3GB of RAM and lags will be a thing of the past on the device. To power all this, the device is packed with a non-removable 3100mAh Li-PO battery that should be lasting a day on a normal use.

Connectivity options include bluetooth v4.0, Wi-fi,HSDPA, HSUPA and LTE cat6 ( Yes, this phone is said to be world's first OCTA CORE LTE CAT6 Device).Unfortunately Indian customers have to wait longer till the actual 4G technology becomes a reality. A-GPS for navigation is also available.

The Phone is light at 130g and shoud be a comfortable piece of tech in one's hands. Priced at Rs.19999/- this phone becomes a killer device to choose looking at the specs and the brand!

Huawie honor 6 will be exclusively available on flipkart from october 6.

Now I compare the device with one of the most awaited device of the year.

MI4 is the latest phone that is awaited from China's APPLE ( that's what it is called as!) XIAOMI.

MI4 also has a 5 inch screen with same reolution as that of Honor 6 but with a 441ppi.

The device runs on custimised OS - MIUI that is based on Android v4.4.3 Kitkat. Even MI4 sports a 13MP snapper on the rear but, the front camera is a bit higher with 8MP sensors compared to that of the 5MP one on honor 6 (better selfies? well, we'll have to see!). The rear snapper is capable of capturing 2K videos at 30FPS(WHOA!!!).The phone is a single sime device vs the dual sim huawei. No micro sim card slot as there is a 64GB variant on offer as well, so one has to be content with the phone storage and rely on the data cables to trasfer the files to and from the device (as I have no info on the OTG facility on both devices). Runs on Qualcomm snapdragon 801 Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The RAM same at 3GB so no issues of lags to crib about. The device is powered by a 3080mAh Li-Ion battery a slighty (very!) smaller that huawei one an shud last u a day on full charge and normal use.

The connectivity options are same as that of Honor 6 except for the LTE connectivity option. The device also sports a infrared sensor that is not on the Honor 6. This sensor is supposedly put in place to replace the remotes in your house! Mi4 is a touch heavier at 149 grams but might not be that problematic for phone of this size. The phone is also thicker by a millimetre.

Overall, by the looks of it, the phones are into a fierce battle but the Huawei Honor 6 is on the upper side with dual sims, micro sd slot and most importantly LTE support. With no pricing factors in picture, one can assume the pricing to be somewhere around that of huawei honor 6.

For people looking for awesome selfies, mi4 has a better front snapper of the 2 devices (but hey! dont we have Ascend P7 for selfies???) . Once the phones hit the market which is about a couple of days for Honor 6 and may be a month for the Mi4, the customers are spoilt for choices. We fans are in for some entertainment as the 2 chinese giants battle it out for the coveted title and given the flash sales of Xiaomi , lot of customers will not get the device at the time they want it.

A village of artists, hidden from the global audience!

Art is a form of expression.. As they say a picture speaks a thousand words, the artists express one thing or the other through their art works. There are innumerable forms of art and every single form is distinct in itself bearing uniqueness of a different kind. Only true art lovers will realise the depth in a work by an artist.

Painting is one of the most beautiful forms of art. The paintings mesmerises few, it makes people keep staring at them for hours! and what not! The hard work behind a painting is enormous. From drafting the sketch to selection of colours and canvases & the final humongous task of getting the painting done.

Here is a real life tale of a village of artists . The village is Raghurajpur, in Puri district of Orissa, India. The artists here, create small to very large, life size paintings - All Hand-Painted! and that is a commendable of them...  The paintings are called as Pattachitra Paintings and the art dates back to 5 B.C . these paintings are usually based on Hindu Mythology and are inspired by "Jagannatha" and the "Vaishnava" Cult.

These artists toil day and night to get these paintings done with precision and accuracy. The art works they create are usually left unsold or are given to the temple. Recently, a few people started buying them at rock bottom prices. The people did sell as they felt that these art-works did fetch them some money. But the people who used to buy them , knew the actual worth of it and were selling it at massive premium prices in art galleries across India. This is just like farmers being under-treated by the middlemen .

To eradicate this problem, and to make sure these artists get what their art-works are actually worth of, I ask you to join this initiative of setting up an online presence for these artists and get their art on a global platform. This initiative has been started by TATA CAPITAL, The journey of doing right. Pledge your support and help them get their worth. All it takes is a couple of minutes.

Watch this video for more details on the artists of Raghurajpur.

A break from social media.

It is a new calender year, with this the calendar in our homes are changed, fireworks, parties etc around the globe are on a peak around this time. Along with this, it is time for vacation for an engineering student like me. Thanks to VTU that the exams that began in 2013, has finally ended in 2014.

This is my experience of not being online for a few days on social media and how beneficial it was for me...

People in these vacation days, go on tours, excursions and plan many other stuff according to their taste. Mine was something that I had never tried before - A brief absence from social media sites. YES! a break from social media... (I may sound idiotic but this was kind of something unusual on the first day but it was worth it!)

When I had joined engineering, I had no internet access during weekdays as I had no smartphone or laptop with me but those were days in 2011 where I had no option but to stay absent on social media. Gone are those days and I was a totally addicted to internet and along with it came , addiction to social media. From Facebook to twitter, I had an account in no time and in all sites known to me. The main intention was to stay in touch with old friends and family who are away scattered in different places around the globe. The friend list on Facebook saw an upper trend and in some time it reached quite a staggering number. This addiction had grown so much that every day I logged into these sites at-least twice and the time spent was quite large ranging from 30 minutes to few hours which depends on the type of activities.

The day was January 6, 2014. The day I last logged into my online social media accounts. Since then I had spent time doing many other stuff on and offline which I always wanted to do but had done only a part of it. Had extra amount of sleep time, less data usage blah blah blah. All I can say is even if I had not logged in, there was too many distractions which pulled me over towards it, which I did avoided (phew!!).

Facebook has evolved over the times that it has been converted into a marketing network along with being a platform to connect with people. There are loads of contests going on and hell lot of goodies and prizes up for grabs that are too good to ignore and that keeps making people attracted towards these sites.

My break from these sites might have brought relief to many people as I am used to post too many contest links and shares regarding the same (though few did benefit me hugely). Guys, it was for just few days and you will get more of these in coming days (Pun intended).

First thing was that I had to logout of all the social media apps and their respective messengers (these eat up too much of the bandwidth and usage of a network) , which was easy as I had to do a factory reset on the phone to get the newer version of the OS on my phone. Apps gone, no more pestering of the apps to get online. And what more, just enjoy the days reading books, magazines, watching movies and also loads of other stuff.

I was just two days past when I had received my first distraction! an E-mail from Facebook(Duh!) . It states that "A lot has happened on Facebook since you last logged in. Here are some notifications that you missed from your friends". Well Facebook , it was intentional and don't remind me that it has been some time since I last saw your face. This was just the beginning... The mail(same one without a single change) used to be in my inbox every single day since that first mail!!!

I thought mail was the only thing that bothers me. But I was WRONG. These sites would not leave me to stay in peace...  I get a text message stating a no. of updates being posted by my friends and I have missed checking them (W T H.. ) .  If I miss them, it my loss, what is it to you ??? I login or I do not do you have any problem Facebook??? others do not send me notifications if I do not login.. it is only you who is the one who annoys users like these.

Well I didn't knew I would be troubled like this. I would definitely switch off notifications on all the sites before taking a break (POINT TO REMEMBER-1).Now almost all websites out there with user login facility have an option"login with Facebook/Twitter/Any other social media site" which is convenient as one is exempted to fill long forms of registration on the site as all your details will be extracted from the social media account and some more benefits accordingly. This makes on have an account on these sites which is beneficial if you are doing much of your tasks online. It is good to take breaks from doing things for a long (Very long) time (POINT TO REMEMBER-2). Overall, this short break has proved that once you get into social media, no matter what one or the other day, you will get back as these are somewhat useful as well in this era of digitalised world. However, when you decide to take a break make sure you switch off all the notifications .

My break from social media sites did come to an end as I had many contests lined up to take part in and it was reaching the last day of participation(The main reason these days that I be on these social media platforms). Actually these days when I get on the web to check my mails etc I am done with all these so early I realised that majority of the time spent on the web was on social media platforms and I was saving those time in these few days. So a total of 10 days off social media did had its share of pros and cons...
